Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 pound spicy or hot Italian sausage
  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small white onion diced
  • 1 small carrot diced
  • 2 small celery stalks diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • ½ cup vodka
  • 14 ounces tomato sauce
  • cups heavy cream
  • 1 pound thick spaghetti
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese
  • salt & pepper

Instructions

  • Add spaghetti to salted, boiling water.
  • Heat avocado oil in pan and brown spicy Italian sausage and ground beef.
  • Once cooked, remove sausage and beef from pan using a slotted spoon. Retain juices and add butter.
  • Add onion, carrot and celery. Sauté for 5-7 minutes. Add garlic and sauté another 2 minutes.
  • Add tomato paste and mix well. Add sausage and beef back to pan, stir.
  • Pour in vodka, mix and deglaze pan.
  • Add tomato sauce, stir. Add heavy cream and incorporate well.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add 1/4 cup of the parmesan cheese.
  • Place serving of pasta into sauce and mix well. Remove pasta from pan and plate, topping with additional sauce mixture.
  • Top with additional parmesan cheese to taste and serve.
