There’s nothing like homemade waffles on a weekend morning and Grandma’s waffles were the #1 comfort food growing up.It appears that there are two groups of waffle eaters; those who top with peanut butter and syrup and those who don’t. - Waffle Iron
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 ½ cups milk
- peanut butter - Jif
- syrup - Miss Butterworth
Instructions
- Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar on wax paper.
- Separate eggs and put egg yolks in large bowl. In smaller bowl, beat egg whites until firm.
- Beat egg yolks. Add milk, vanilla and vegetable oil.
- Add in flour mixture and STIR BY HAND just enough to moisten dry ingredients.
- Fold in egg whites.
- Spray waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray, add batter and bake.
- Top with peanut butter and syrup.
Notes
If you want to get the full experience of Grandma's waffles, she uses a Vintage Sunbeam Waffle Baker & Grill CG-1, which you can usually find on Ebay. Whatever waffle maker you use, just make sure it's a quality one that makes nice thick waffles!
